2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 110,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 6 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Ah! Jay-Z. Isn’t that the chap who has made a $500 million fortune from glamorising street crime, drug dealing, and violence? And hasn’t he been arrested more than once for crimes including some related to illegal firearms? And isn’t he married to that woman demanding a plan against gun violence?

  2. SO, I’m your number 2 commenter behind X, eh? That’s a pretty respectable location. But 110 THOUSAND views? THOUSAND? Heck, if I stayed away, would anybody even notice?!? (Hey – not that you’re gettin’ rid of me, pal. You’re STUCK with me! ;) )
Well done, sir, well done indeed!

The Russians say that quantity has a quality all of its own. I think have proven them wrong….

      • Hey, my most-searched post was about a Boeing 727 being crashed on purpose! When you consider I spent the first 40 years of my life underneath a landing pattern for Chicago’s O’Hare airport, that’s a quantity that provides IRONY all its’ own!
Besides, we ARE the elite! This young punk gets hundreds of THOUSANDS of views, but only we few, we happy few, we band of commenters have the quality of character to actually post our commentary! ;)

Even the Internet is a sedentary spectator activity. Look at YouTube. Look at the number of views against number of comments. Really it says a lot about how humanity views the virtual world.

          • Yeah, I got a huge number of views (several thousand – huge for me) but I have only about 8-10 regular commenters, plus a few I’ve picked up recently.
And, oddly enough, not a single reader from THIS blog. :p

  3. We are THE elite? Wow! Maybe they should put us in charge?
