The Sun Military Awards 2009

The Millies Awards

The Millies Awards

Following last year’s highly successful event, the second Sun Military Awards, also known as the Millies, are being launched by The Sun. Nominations will be invited from the Armed Forces and the general public until 14 September 2009.

Last years awards were judged by a panel consisting of Sir Peter Squires, Lord West, Prince Charles, Dame Kelly Holmes, Sir Mike Jackson, Ross Kemp, Martin Johnson, Lawrence Dallaglio, Andy McNab, Jeremy Clarkson, John Terry and Lord Guthrie.

These awards are a high profile and, even more importantly, down to earth way to recognise the excellence and calibre of our Armed Forces and servicemen and women. The ceremony will be televised in December.

There are awards in the following areas:

1. Overcoming Adversity
2. Most Outstanding Sailor or Marine
3. Most Outstanding Soldier
4. Most Outstanding Airman
5. Best Reservist
6. Support to the Armed Forces
7. Life Saver Award
8. True Grit: Home
9. True Grit: Overseas
10. Best Unit
11. Judges’ Award for Special Recognition
